Firefighters in Mallorca have managed to control the fire declared this morning in Puig de sa Bassa, Son Servera, while another blaze in Sa Coma remains active. Aerial and ground units are working in the area.
The wildfire declared this Friday morning in the municipality of Son Servera, in the Puig de sa Bassa area, is now under control, according to the Town Hall. However, the flames continue to be active at a second site in Sa Coma, where firefighting teams expect to gain control in the coming hours.
Deployment of Resources in Son Servera
From early on, units from Bombers de Mallorca from the parks of Felanitx, Manacor, and Sergent have been deployed to the area to reinforce firefighting efforts. Local Police, Civil Protection, and the Civil Guard, along with the IBANAT brigade, have also intervened.
Aerial resources, including a helicopter and a firefighting plane, have been making water drops throughout the morning to halt the spread. The mayor of Son Servera, Pep Servera Leno, and the police councillor, Bernat Grimalt, have arrived at the scene to coordinate the operation.
The fire is under control, although not extinguished. Actions in the area continue to be coordinated.
Second Fire in Sa Coma
Meanwhile, emergency services are working on another fire declared in Sa Coma, where the flames are close to being controlled. Firefighting resources have focused on this second site, which has required the mobilization of additional resources.
So far, the causes that led to either of the two fires or the affected area have not been disclosed. The Town Hall of Son Servera has asked residents to avoid the area and follow the instructions of emergency services.
