The Civil Guard has arrested two members of an Albanian criminal gang that raided 22 luxury homes in residential areas of Mallorca, with a haul valued at over two million euros.

The Civil Guard has detained and placed at the disposal of the judiciary two Albanians as part of a criminal organization of eight members that allegedly committed 22 robberies in luxury homes in Mallorca between 2025 and 2026. The assaults took place in high-income residential areas such as Puerto de Andratx, Badia Gran, Costa den Blanes, and Bendinat, and the value of the stolen goods exceeds two million euros.

Operation Congre: searches in Cala Major and Santa Eugènia

The operation, dubbed Operation Congre, took place on July 15. Officers from the Armed Institute searched two homes in Cala Major and Santa Eugènia, where they seized a long list of stolen items, cash, binoculars, tools, SIM cards, and cameras that were allegedly going to be used for new crimes.

The detainees, of Albanian nationality, were identified as active members of the gang. The ongoing investigation has linked them to the 22 assaults, although the number of solved robberies is expected to increase as the inquiries progress.

Modus operandi: drills and hideouts in the mountains

The gang operated with a very defined modus operandi. They accessed the homes using drills or by forcing doors and windows. Once inside, they took jewellery, luxury watches, cash, and other valuables. To avoid detection, they hid the loot in hideouts located in mountainous areas until they could transport it off the island.

The members of the organization used multiple identities to hinder their identification and police action. The Civil Guard has highlighted the complexity of the investigation, which has required coordination with other European countries.

Search for the other six members of the gang

The criminal organization consisted of a total of eight members, spread across different European countries. The Civil Guard has already announced that it will request European arrest warrants for the other six members, who remain at large.

The two detainees are accused of the alleged crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, burglary in inhabited dwellings, and document forgery. The judge has ordered their provisional detention.

The economic damage caused to the owners of the raided houses is substantial. According to the Civil Guard, only in the solved robberies, the value of the stolen goods could exceed two million euros. Many of the victims were foreign residents or owners of second homes on the island.

The investigation remains open, and new arrests are not ruled out in the coming days. The Civil Guard recommends that owners of homes in luxury residential areas enhance security measures, such as installing alarm and surveillance systems, and not leaving valuables in plain sight.
