The Calvià Town Hall, in Palma de Mallorca, has announced the opening of the exhibition of the finalist works in the categories of Photography and Painting for the Rei en Jaume 2026 Awards.

This year, 108 works were registered for the competition, of which 56 correspond to Photography and 52 to Painting. After evaluation by an expert jury, 15 proposals were selected, with 6 in Photography and 9 in Painting.

Opening of the exhibition

The inauguration of the exhibition will take place on August 26, coinciding with the start of the Rei en Jaume Festivities. This year, the celebration commemorates the 797th anniversary of the landing of Jaume I's troops in Santa Ponça.

The exhibition will be free to access and will be available from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Rei en Jaume Awards and their trajectory

The Rei en Jaume Awards, organized by the Culture Department of the Calvià Town Hall, are celebrating their XXIV edition, reaffirming themselves as a significant cultural event in the region. In addition to Photography and Painting, the competition includes categories for Narrative and Poetry in Spanish and Catalan, as well as Short Narrative.

Honorary awards will also be given to recognize the achievements of individuals or organizations that have excelled in the cultural field.

The awards gala, where the winners of each category will be announced, is scheduled for late October at the Palmanova Hall.
