The centre of Sóller is on lockdown this Saturday: by order of the Government Delegation, several streets and squares will be cleared of terraces and displays between 10 AM and 2 PM due to a protest.
The Government Delegation has ordered special security measures in the centre of Sóller due to the protest scheduled for this Saturday, August 8. The Sóller Town Hall has announced that, between 10 AM and 2 PM, no elements may occupy the public thoroughfare within the affected route.
The measure affects the Plaza de los Estiradores, Calle Santa Teresa, Calle Sa Lluna, and Plaza de la Constitución. During these four hours, terraces, commercial displays, stalls, the market, and crafts that usually occupy these spaces must be removed.
The restriction also extends to Avenida Cristóbal Colom, Avenida Jeroni Estades, Plaza de España, Plaza del Mercado, Calle del Born, and Calle de Bauçà. In all these streets, urban and commercial furniture must remain inside the establishments.
The council clarifies that businesses, restaurants, and establishments are not required to close. They can continue to open to the public as they see fit and if it is viable, but without using the public thoroughfare during the protest hours.
Additionally, during the day, it will be necessary to remove parked vehicles along the protest route: specifically on Calle Santa Teresa, the Estiradores area, and the Es Celler area. The Town Hall thanks residents and visitors for their understanding and cooperation to ensure the safety of all participants.
Drivers are advised to avoid parking in these areas from the night before and to use the peripheral parking lots on Saturday morning to facilitate the day's events.
