The Sóller Town Hall has coordinated with the Health Centre an extraordinary operation for the solar eclipse on August 12 and the demonstration this Saturday, with double healthcare shifts and an extension of SAMU-061.
The Health Councillor of the Sóller Town Hall, Lluís Cerezo, met yesterday with the heads of the Health Centre of Sóller to prepare the healthcare operation for two days of expected high attendance: the solar eclipse on August 12 and the demonstration scheduled for this Saturday.
The Health Department has confirmed a special reinforcement of the health centre during the eclipse. The evening shift will see healthcare staff doubled to increase the response capacity to any incidents that may occur.
Scheduled medical consultations and appointments will remain, but some professionals will have their schedules blocked to be fully available for any eventuality, according to municipal sources.
During the meeting, it was also agreed to convey to the Health Department the request to extend the admission and public service hours, which usually end at 20:00, to remain operational until 23:00. Additionally, a request has been made to extend the reinforcement of the SAMU-061 ambulance service at least until midnight.
Furthermore, the emergency action protocol was reviewed for potential emergencies during the eclipse day. If urgent intervention is needed, the Local Police will facilitate the passage of healthcare vehicles to ensure a quick response, especially if there are traffic delays on the roads.
Regarding the demonstration this Saturday, the Town Hall expressed its concerns to both the health authorities and the Local Security Board, held this Wednesday. It will be the Government Delegation that formalises the request for the health centre to also have an extraordinary reinforcement of professionals and SAMU-061 during the protest hours.
“The aim is to anticipate any exceptional situation and ensure that both residents and visitors to Sóller during these days receive quick and quality healthcare if needed,” highlighted Lluís Cerezo.
The Sóller Town Hall positively values the coordination between administrations and emphasises that these reinforcements respond exclusively to preventive criteria, with the intention of ensuring safety and an effective healthcare response.
Residents with medical appointments on those days will not see their consultations altered, but it is recommended to anticipate possible delays in accessing the municipality during the eclipse and the demonstration.
