The Bons Illes Balears 2026 Generate €11.5 Million in Sales in the Balearics

The government bond campaign, with technical support from the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca, concludes with €11,522,152.70 in sales and a return of €3.2 for every euro invested.

The Bons Illes Balears 2026 campaign has closed with a balance of €11,522,152.70 in sales at participating establishments across the four islands. The Ministry of Business, Self-Employed and Energy, which again received technical support from the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca, describes this edition as the most ambitious since the programme was launched.

The multiplier effect of public investment has been the most notable figure: every euro allocated by the government to the bonds has generated €3.2 in sales. A result that, according to the department led by Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, confirms the effectiveness of the initiative to encourage purchases and strengthen local commerce.

Majorca accounts for the majority of the activity: €2,786,710 in bonds used has generated €8,845,241.81 in sales. In Menorca, bonds worth €452,060 have been used, resulting in €1,613,875.86 in sales; in Ibiza, the €345,940 exchanged has generated €962,643.51; and in Formentera, the €29,750 in bonds has resulted in €100,391.52 in sales.

The Minister of Business, Self-Employed and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, highlighted that "this has been the edition of the Bons Illes Balears with the most resources and also the one that has received the best response from the public. Every euro of public investment has generated €3.2 in sales, a result that demonstrates that this initiative is an effective tool to support the self-employed and local commerce, while also helping families with their purchases."

For businesses in Majorca, the campaign has provided a boost during a summer marked by rising prices. The bonds have allowed them to attract customers and retain residents, who have been able to discount up to €40 on their purchases at participating establishments. The next edition, likely in 2027, will again collaborate with the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca.
