Around 200 people gathered in the square of the Church of Binissalem to participate in a charity dinner that raised 2,515 euros. The money will be used for the comprehensive renovation of the Rectory's roof and the parish facilities, which have been closed since February due to collapse risk.

The renovation of the roof of the Rectory and the parish facilities in Binissalem is progressing well, and the locals have shown their solidarity. A 'pamboliada' held in the church square managed to raise 2,515 euros, an amount that will help cover the repair costs. About 200 people attended the event, paying 15 euros for dinner and participating in a raffle for prizes donated by local businesses.

A fundraising event with a local flavour

The initiative, organised by the parish of Nostra Senyora de Robines and the Binissalem Town Hall, received support from numerous establishments in the municipality. Attendees enjoyed an evening where the pamboliada —a typical dish from the area— was the star. The money raised will be entirely allocated to the works, which are already underway and are expected to be completed by September.

The diocese of Mallorca has positively assessed the community's response. “The solidarity of the people of Binissalem is key to recovering these spaces,” church sources stated. The next charitable event is scheduled for August 22, when another similar 'pamboliada' is planned.

A closure for structural safety

It should be noted that the building housing the Teatre Municipal and the parish facilities was temporarily closed in February after “structural problems” were detected in the roof. The ceramic beams showed “evident signs of severe deterioration”, which forced some areas to be shored up to prevent collapses. The damage was discovered in December 2025 during a routine inspection due to water leaks.

Since then, technicians from the diocese and the Town Hall, accompanied by an architect, have been working on the complete renovation of the roof. The works are progressing according to schedule, and it is expected that by September, both the Rectory and the parish facilities will be operational again. Meanwhile, cultural events have been rescheduled in other municipal facilities.

Community involvement and upcoming events

The 'pamboliada' has not only served to raise funds but also to strengthen the social fabric of the municipality. Local businesses donated prizes for the raffle, and the locals rallied around the cause. “It is an example of how the community comes together to preserve its heritage,” organisers highlighted.

A new charitable 'pamboliada' is already confirmed for August 22. Those wishing to contribute can come to the church square starting at 8:00 PM. The price of the dinner will again be 15 euros, and it is hoped to surpass the previous fundraising total. The roof renovation, with costs yet to be detailed, still requires financial support.
