Local Police in Palma found a stolen car in the parking lot of Son Llàtzer Hospital and, under the chassis, two wheels stolen from a nurse at the centre.

Officers from the Local Police in Palma were in for a double surprise on July 15 in the outdoor parking lot of Son Llàtzer University Hospital. What began as the recovery of a stolen vehicle ended with the return of two wheels taken from a worker at the healthcare facility.

The intervention began around 4:30 PM, when the hospital's private security staff alerted the 092 Base about a suspicious car in the parking area. Upon arrival, the patrol discovered a recently registered car showing clear signs of forced manipulation: it was raised on a jack and missing a tyre.

A stolen vehicle since early July

The officers entered the registration number and chassis number into the police computer system and confirmed that there was an active theft report since July 4, 2026 against the vehicle. They immediately contacted the legal owner by phone, who arrived at the hospital in just half an hour to take charge of his car.

While guarding the car awaiting its owner, the police thoroughly inspected the underside and discovered two complete wheels strategically hidden under the chassis. Upon extracting them, they confirmed that the size and rims did not match the model of the recovered car.

The theft from an Emergency nurse

The officers cross-referenced data with the hospital's security team, and the investigation yielded immediate results: that very morning, thieves had stripped the car of a nurse who was on the night shift in Emergency, leaving her without two of her wheels. The worker had already filed a report for the theft of the components.

The patrol contacted her to deliver the good news. The nurse came to the parking lot during her shift to recover the tyres, at which point the officers drafted the corresponding official report for the return of recovered items.

For the residents of Palma, this intervention represents a relief in the fight against thefts in public parking lots. Son Llàtzer Hospital, one of the island's reference centres, thus strengthens collaboration between private security and local police to prevent such crimes.
