Evans Boente Bustos, 28 years old and a resident of Mallorca, lost his life on Sunday in Valencia after being hit by a truck during a loading operation. The family has launched a fundraising campaign to cover the transport and funeral costs, as the company had not insured him.

The young man from Mallorca Evans Boente Bustos, aged 28, died last Sunday, July 12, in a work accident in Valencia. According to this newspaper, the incident occurred while he was unloading for the moving and transport company he worked for. A colleague, while manoeuvring the truck, accidentally reversed and ran him over, causing his instant death.

Without work insurance and with a baby on the way

The family has reported that Evans was not insured by the company. Fearing that the company might try to evade responsibility, they have already filed a lawsuit. However, the priority now is to repatriate the body to Mallorca. “All we want is to give my cousin a proper rest,” declares his cousin, visibly affected.

Evans' partner, who is three months pregnant, was expecting their first child alongside him. “He was very happy, he was going to be a father,” family members say. Now, in addition to their grief, they face a debt of around €10,000 to cover the transport, cremation, and funeral.

Fundraising campaign to bring him back

Due to a lack of resources, the family has launched a campaign on the GoFundMe platform with the goal of raising €10,000. So far, they have raised about €2,000 from relatives. “Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps,” they insist. If the final cost is lower, the remaining money will go to the partner and the unborn child.

The transport of the body from Valencia costs €5,000, plus the plane ticket, funeral arrangements, and cremation. The family, who are “completely shattered,” relives a similar tragedy: Evans' father also died in Valencia in a work accident, without insurance, and the family had to go into debt to bring him back.

A call for solidarity from the island

Evans' mother, who has already lost her husband under similar circumstances, is now trying to bring back her only son. The family is asking for public support so that the young man can receive “his last farewell” in Mallorca. Donations can be made through the GoFundMe page set up for the cause.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the accident is ongoing. The lawsuit against the company seeks to clarify responsibilities and prevent cases like this from going unpunished. For the island's residents, this story is a harsh reminder of job insecurity and the importance of having basic coverage.

Anyone wishing to help can access the campaign link. Every euro brings Evans closer to home and eases the burden on a family that has already suffered too much.
