The Civil Guard has arrested three men aged 54, 37 and 27 while they were forcing the door of a car at the s’Entreforc viewpoint in Escorca. Inside the vehicle were two minors.
The Civil Guard has arrested three men, aged 54, 37 and 27, as alleged perpetrators of an attempted robbery with force inside a vehicle in Escorca. The events occurred last Friday at the s’Entreforc viewpoint, a tourist spot in the Serra de Tramuntana.
The agents surprised the suspects while they were forcing the lock of a parked car. However, upon accessing the vehicle, the detainees found two minors inside, which forced them to flee on foot upon noticing the police presence.
The operation is part of a preventive device that the Civil Guard is simultaneously carrying out at the s’Entreforc viewpoint and in the parking lot of the Cúber reservoir. Both points are frequented by visitors and have seen an increase in vehicle break-ins in recent weeks.
The operation involved agents from the Investigation departments of the Inca, Pollença, and Santa Margalida posts, along with Public Security personnel from the Company. During the surveillance, one of the teams observed how three individuals, after parking their vehicle near the viewpoint, began inspecting the parked cars.
Shortly after, the agents confirmed that the suspects were using a metal strip and a door wedge to manipulate the lock and open one of the cars without causing apparent damage. Upon accessing the vehicle, they discovered that there were two minors inside, which surprised them.
At that moment, the agents intervened and ordered the three men to stop, who then fled on foot. However, they were caught and intercepted just a hundred meters away, leading to their arrest. During the arrest, the Civil Guard seized the tools used to commit the robbery.
The three detainees, along with the proceedings initiated, have already been placed at the disposal of the judiciary. Meanwhile, the Civil Guard maintains an active specific operation to prevent thefts inside parked vehicles at viewpoints, natural spaces, and other areas of the Serra de Tramuntana.
The Civil Guard advises drivers to park in monitored areas and not to leave valuables in sight, especially in tourist areas such as the viewpoints of the Serra de Tramuntana, where several similar incidents have been reported in recent months.
