The Environment Area of the Town Hall of Inca has opened the registration period for the photography competition 'Calendari Medi Ambient Inca 2027 – La fauna del municipi d'Inca'. Interested parties can submit up to three unpublished snapshots of wild animals within the municipal area until November 2.
The Environment Area of the Town Hall of Inca has launched a new edition of the photography competition aimed at illustrating the municipal calendar for the year 2027. Under the slogan 'La fauna del municipi d'Inca', the initiative seeks to engage citizens in the knowledge and conservation of local biodiversity, while promoting the natural heritage of the municipality.
The rules, published this Friday, establish that the theme of the competition will be exclusively the fauna present in the municipal area of Inca. Images of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects, arachnids, and other invertebrates will be accepted, as long as they have been captured in their natural environment within the limits of the municipality. Photographs of livestock or animals linked to traditional agricultural activities will also be accepted, provided they have a clear environmental interest. Images of domestic or companion animals, as well as those of captive specimens, are excluded.
The competition is open to people of all ages, although minors must have the express consent of their parents or legal guardians. Participation is free, and each contestant may submit a maximum of three works, which must be original and unpublished. Photographs that have been awarded in other competitions or publicly exhibited will not be accepted, although images taken in previous years that have not been awarded or published are allowed.
The works must be submitted in horizontal format, with an aspect ratio of 3:2, and in high-resolution JPG file with a minimum size of 3,872 pixels on the longest side. Macro photographs are accepted, provided the author has a contextual image that demonstrates that the shot was taken within the municipal area of Inca. If this cannot be provided, the photograph will be excluded.
The submission period starts on August 1 and ends on November 2, 2026. The images and required documentation must be sent by email to mediambient@incaciutat.com, indicating in the subject 'CONCURS CALENDARI MEDI AMBIENT INCA 2027'. Along with the photographs, participants must attach the completed registration form and, in the case of minors, the authorization from parents or guardians. If identifiable people appear in the images, a responsible declaration of having their consent must be included.
The jury will evaluate the technical and artistic quality, originality, the naturalistic interest of the species or scene, the representation of the municipality's biodiversity, and respect for the ethical principles of nature photography. To this end, compliance with the Ethical Code of the Spanish Association of Nature Photographers (AEFONA) is required, which prohibits any actions that cause discomfort, stress, or harm to animals or their habitats. Images obtained through manipulation of animals, destruction of nests or shelters, capture of specimens, use of substances that alter their behaviour, or any other practices contrary to this code will not be accepted.
The winning photographs will become part of the municipal Environmental Calendar for 2027 and will appear with the author's name. Each participant may be awarded for only one image. The competition aims not only to beautify the calendar but also to promote public awareness of biodiversity and the natural heritage of Inca.
