Air Nostrum resumes the connection between Badajoz and Palma de Mallorca with 12 flights scheduled between December 23 and January 5. The route, which did not operate in summer, returns to meet Christmas demand.
Air Nostrum has announced that 12 flights will connect Badajoz and Palma de Mallorca during the festive season. The route, which was not operational in summer, is reactivated from December 23 to January 5, with six flights in each direction.
Flight Schedule Badajoz-Palma
The flights will depart from Palma de Mallorca at 13:30 on December 23, 29, and 31, and January 5, arriving in Badajoz at 15:20. In the opposite direction, planes will take off from Badajoz at 16:20, landing in Palma at 18:05.
Additionally, on December 26 and January 2, there will also be flights. Departures from the Balearic Islands to Extremadura will leave at 13:10 and arrive at 15:00. The return from Badajoz will be at 15:45, arriving in Palma at 17:30.
The company Air Nostrum has already loaded the route into its system, so tickets are available on the Iberia website and through travel agencies.
A Connection That Returns After the Summer Break
The lack of flight programming during the summer left travellers from Extremadura without a direct link to the Balearic Islands. Now, with the arrival of Christmas, Air Nostrum is bringing back the route to facilitate travel for those wishing to spend the holidays in Mallorca or return home.
For residents on the island, this connection provides an opportunity to visit Extremadura without layovers. The 12 flights offer flexibility for planning round trips on key dates such as Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and Epiphany.
Tickets are already on sale, and the airline recommends booking as soon as possible to secure a seat, given the seasonal nature of the route.
Impact on Mallorca's Tourism
The direct connection with Badajoz opens a door to inland tourism for the people of Mallorca. Extremadura, with its monumental and gastronomic heritage, becomes an accessible destination without the need for layovers. For residents in Palma, flying directly to Badajoz saves hours of travel compared to other options with transfers.
The flights have an estimated duration of 1 hour and 50 minutes, allowing for express weekend trips. Those looking to take advantage of the Christmas bridge or the Epiphany week have a comfortable and direct option.
For Extremadurans living in Mallorca, the route facilitates family reunions on significant dates. The demand for these flights is usually high, so it is advisable not to delay purchasing tickets.
Air Nostrum, a franchise of Iberia, operates the route with CRJ-200 aircraft with 50 seats. The capacity is limited, reinforcing the need to book in advance.
The schedules are designed to optimise the travel day: departure at midday from Palma and return in the early afternoon from Badajoz, allowing for morning enjoyment at the destination.
With this schedule, Air Nostrum is committed to regional connectivity during peak demand periods. The Badajoz-Palma de Mallorca route is one of the most sought after by travellers from both regions.
For the people of Mallorca, the possibility of flying directly to Badajoz avoids transit through Madrid or Barcelona, resulting in time and hassle savings. This option is particularly appealing for families with children or people with reduced mobility.
Tickets can be purchased on the Iberia website or through travel agencies. Prices vary according to demand, but initial promotional rates can be found at competitive prices.
