The National Police have arrested two men, a father and son, as the alleged perpetrators of the beating of a taxi driver in the car park of a nightclub in Playa de Palma. The victim suffered multiple contusions and a nasal fracture.

The National Police have detained two men, a father and son, as the alleged authors of the brutal assault suffered by a taxi driver in early July in the car park of a well-known nightclub in Playa de Palma. According to the report, the occupants of a vehicle followed the driver for several kilometres before attacking him.

The events date back to the early days of July, when the taxi driver was working in the Playa de Palma area. The driver told the officers that a car was persistently driving behind him and flashing lights at him, which led him to avoid interacting with its occupants and continue on his route.

However, the vehicle did not stop following him. The chase lasted several kilometres until the taxi driver reached the car park of the nightclub, at which point the passenger got out of the car and began hitting him through the taxi window.

Faced with the attack, the driver managed to exit through the passenger door and tried to move away to seek help, but it was then that a second man, of middle age, joined the assault. Together they beat him down to the ground, where they continued to punch and kick him all over his body.

The violence was such that other people present in the area had to intervene to put an end to the beating. The alleged attackers ceased their blows and quickly fled in their vehicle, leaving the taxi driver injured on the ground.

As a result of the attack, the driver suffered multiple contusions and a fracture of the nasal bones. After the incident, he went to the Local Police station to file a report, and it was the Homicide Group of the National Police that took charge of the investigation to identify those responsible.

The investigators carried out various proceedings to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine who the occupants of the vehicle were. The inquiries allowed for the identification of the two alleged perpetrators, who turned out to be father and son, leading to their arrest.

The case has generated notable alarm due to the violence used against the driver, who went from feeling pursued while working to being attacked in the car park. The police investigation is now trying to clarify if there is more behind the assault, as the accounts provided have raised doubts among the officers.

The two detainees remain linked to the investigation as alleged perpetrators, awaiting the judicial authority to determine the responsibilities that may correspond to them. The National Police have not ruled out that new details about what occurred during the chase and the subsequent attack may emerge.
