A man hits another with a glass in a venue on Palma's seafront

The National Police have arrested the alleged perpetrator of the assault, who hit another customer after seeing him talk to his ex-partner. The victim suffered serious facial injuries and had to be taken to hospital.

In the early hours of Friday, a violent fight broke out in a leisure venue on Palma's seafront. A man, allegedly in a fit of jealousy, struck another customer with a glass, causing significant injuries to his face.

The events occurred around 4:00 AM, when officers from the Citizen Attention Group (GAC) of the National Police, who were carrying out preventive work in the area, received a call from 091 alerting them to a fight in the establishment.

Upon arrival, security personnel had already detained the alleged aggressor. The owner of the venue explained to the officers that the man had violently struck another customer with a glass, causing serious injuries. The victim, with injuries particularly to the left eye and jaw, was immediately taken to a hospital in Palma.

The detained man told the officers that he approached the victim to reprimand him for talking to his ex-partner and claimed he reacted after receiving a supposed shove. However, eyewitnesses corroborated the victim's account and confirmed that it was the now-detained man who initiated the assault.

The violence of the blow not only affected the victim. The glass shattered and the fragments flew out, injuring a waitress at the venue. Additionally, the owner reported significant damage to the furniture, estimated at over 1,500 euros.

After taking statements from the alleged aggressor, the victim, and several witnesses, the officers proceeded to arrest the man as the presumed author of a crime of injury and damage. The arrested individual was taken to police facilities, where proceedings were initiated before being brought before the courts.

The investigation suggests that the origin of the assault was a fit of jealousy upon seeing his ex-partner conversing with another man inside the establishment. This incident adds to the growing concern over violence in nightlife areas of the Balearic capital, where fights are often related to alcohol consumption and personal conflicts.
