The King presided over the trophy presentation of the 44th edition at the Palace of La Almudaina. The Nola was declared overall champion on corrected time.

The bay of Palma concluded this Saturday a week of competition with the awards ceremony of the 44th Copa del Rey Mapfre, held at the Royal Palace of La Almudaina. King Felipe VI was responsible for presenting the trophies to the champions and top finishers in each category.

Attending the event were the main authorities of the islands, including the president of the Govern, Marga Prohens; the mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez; the president of the Parlament, Gabriel Le Senne; the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés; and the president of the Real Club Náutico de Palma, Rafael Gil. Also present were the president of the Balearic Sailing Federation, Joaquín González; the CEO of Mapfre Iberia, Elena Sanz; and the general commander of the Balearics, Ricardo Esteban.

The competition, which brought together some of the leading national and international crews, crowned the Nola, helmed by Margus Uudam with Portuguese Hugo Rocha in tactics, as overall champion on corrected time. The Estonian vessel, owned by Taavet Hinrikus, topped the overall classification after a week of maximum challenge where consistency was key.

In the various classes, victories went to the Spanish Teatro del Soho San Miguel (Uber ORC B), the Italian Vudu (Abanca ORC 0), the German Niramo (Azulmarino ORC C), the Estonian Nola (Sail Racing ORC A), and the Nadir (ClubSwan 42). In the Baleària Women’s Cup, the victory went to the Baleària Team RCNP.

The Corinthian division, reserved for entirely amateur crews, recognised L’Immens (Uber ORC B) and the German Meerblick, helmed by Gabrielle Pohlmann (Azulmarino ORC C), as champions of their classes.

Among the awardees was also the Hispania, from the Naval Regatta Commission of the Spanish Navy, which finished as runner-up in the Abanca ORC 0 class. The King, who acted as the team’s helmsman for much of the week, presented the trophy to Admiral Jaime Rodríguez-Toubes.

The ceremony marked the final touch to an edition that once again positioned Majorca and the bay of Palma as one of the great venues for international sailing during the summer. The champions, runners-up, and third-placed in each class received their awards from Don Felipe in an event that gathered the top figures in Balearic sport.
