The Royal Household has confirmed that Felipe VI and Letizia will begin their summer stay in Mallorca on July 24. The King will receive the authorities at the Almudaina, while the Queen will attend an event in Ourense.

The Kings of Spain have set a date for their traditional summer visit to Mallorca. The Royal Household confirmed this Friday that the official agenda will kick off on Friday, July 24, with Felipe VI leading the institutional events at the Royal Palace of Almudaina. However, Queen Letizia will not be present on that first day, as she is scheduled to travel to Ourense to attend the 50th anniversary of the textile company Adolfo Domínguez.

Reception for the Balearic Authorities at the Almudaina

The King will start the morning of July 24 at 10:00 hours with an audience with the President of the Balearic Islands, Marga Prohens. Half an hour later, at 10:50, he will meet with the President of the Parliament, Gabriel Le Senne i Presedo. The round of meetings will continue at 11:25 hours with the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, and will conclude at 12:00 hours with the President of the Mallorca Council, Llorenç Galmés.

“The first appointment of King Felipe VI in Mallorca is the reception for the regional authorities at the Royal Palace of Almudaina,” sources from the Royal Household state.

This event marks the beginning of the Royal Family's summer stay in the archipelago, a tradition that is repeated year after year. The summer meeting with the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, at the Marivent Palace is scheduled for July 30.

Copa del Rey Sailing and Closure of Atlàntida

As is customary, the King's stay will coincide with the Copa del Rey MAPFRE de vela, a competition in which Felipe VI will actively participate. The trophy presentation is set for August 8, marking the final touch to the regatta. Meanwhile, Queen Letizia has already confirmed her attendance at the closing of the Atlàntida film festival, which this year will take place on Sunday August 2.

On August 4, there will be a reception for Balearic civil society, one of the most attended events of the royal summer. Businesspeople, institutional representatives, athletes, and public figures from the Balearic Islands will be received by the Kings in an event that symbolizes the close relationship of the Royal Family with Mallorca.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía: New Directions

This summer will also be special for the Kings' daughters. Princess Leonor will start her Degree in Political Science at Carlos III University of Madrid in September. Her sister, Infanta Sofía, will move to Paris to study Political Science and International Relations at Forward College. Both will take advantage of the days on the island before starting their new academic journeys.

As for Queen Sofía, her presence in Mallorca has not yet been confirmed. Following the passing of her sister, Princess Irene, it is unknown when she will settle in Marivent. The emeritus queen already visited the island in March to attend the 'Concert de Setmana Santa: Réquiem de Verdi' in aid of Projecte Home Balears, accompanied by her daughters and granddaughters.

The residents of Palma and tourists visiting the island during these dates will be able to enjoy the royal presence, especially during the reception for civil society and the Copa del Rey regatta, which attract large crowds. The complete agenda will be outlined in the coming weeks.
