Agents of the National Police arrested a man in Son Gotleu last Sunday, accused of robbery with violence, theft, and fraud. The detainee attacked his victim with a baseball bat and cut his face to steal 150 euros.

The National Police in Palma has arrested an individual accused of brutally beating a man with a baseball bat and causing a deep cut to his face with a knife to steal 150 euros. The arrest took place last Sunday in the Son Gotleu neighbourhood, where officers located the suspect, who had been wanted since mid-July.

The events date back to mid-July, when, after a dispute that began over an attempted robbery, the aggressor repeatedly struck the victim in the back with a baseball bat. He then pulled out a knife and slashed the victim's face, causing significant injuries that required stitches at a medical facility.

The victim reported the assault, and the Judicial Police Group of the District Central Police Station took charge of the investigation. After several inquiries, the agents managed to identify the perpetrator, but as he was in hiding, a search and capture order was issued.

The fugitive's escape ended last Sunday when agents from the Operational Response Group (GOR) located and subdued him in Son Gotleu. At the time of the arrest, the individual was carrying a hidden knife among his belongings. During the search, the police also discovered a bank card in someone else's name. Checks confirmed that the wallet belonging to its owner had been stolen the previous night and that fraudulent transactions had already been recorded with the card.

For these events, the National Police charges the detainee with robbery with violence, theft, and fraud. The arrested individual has been placed at the disposal of the judiciary, and it is expected that the judge will order his provisional imprisonment. The investigation remains open to determine if the detainee is linked to other criminal activities in the area.

This incident has caused alarm among the residents of Son Gotleu, a neighbourhood where police presence has been reinforced in recent months. The National Police advises citizens to take extra precautions and report any suspicious activity to prevent such incidents.
