The prosecution requests sentences totalling 36 years in prison for four individuals accused of robbing a dozen homes in Palma, Calvià and Andratx in July 2025. The thefts were committed in less than a week and the suspects fled at high speed along the motorway.
The Provincial Court of Baleares has scheduled the trial for next November against four individuals accused of being part of a gang that robbed twelve homes in Mallorca in less than a week. The prosecution is seeking sentences totalling 36 years in prison.
The events date back to the summer of 2025. According to the indictment, the four accused —two men and two women— arrived on the island on July 3 on a ferry from the mainland. They were travelling in a car rented in Alicante and, according to the public prosecutor, their aim was to commit burglaries in unoccupied homes.
During the following days, according to the accusation, the suspects operated in various locations in Mallorca: Palma, Calvià and Andratx. In all cases, the modus operandi was similar: they ensured that there were no occupants inside, forced doors or windows —causing material damage— and took jewellery, watches, bags, electronic devices and cash.
The turning point came on July 9. That afternoon, the owner of a home in Andratx caught the thieves inside his house. The intruders fled in the rented vehicle, but two neighbours pursued them and alerted the Guardia Civil.
The agents initiated a chase that lasted four kilometres along the motorway. During the escape, the fugitives drove at high speed, endangering other road users, according to the prosecution's document. At one point, the car stopped on the shoulder, but as the agents approached, the occupants resumed driving and managed to escape.
Subsequently, investigators confirmed that the car had been rented using false documentation. The four suspects were arrested in the following days.
The prosecution charges the four accused with crimes of burglary in an inhabited dwelling, membership in a criminal group, forgery of an official document, and reckless driving. In addition to prison sentences, the public prosecutor requests that they compensate the victims with over 44,000 euros for the stolen items not recovered and the damages caused to the properties.
This Tuesday, a preliminary hearing for the trial was held at the Provincial Court, where the parties announced that there was no plea agreement. The court has set the trial for November, although the exact date has yet to be determined.
For the residents of the affected areas, these robberies generated significant social alarm during those days in July. The swift action of the Guardia Civil and citizen cooperation were key to the arrest of the alleged perpetrators. Now, while awaiting the trial, the victims hope that justice will determine the responsibilities and repair, as much as possible, the damages suffered.
