Mayor Carmen Álvarez has presented the programme for the 45th Pepper Festival, which will take place from July 31 to August 2 in the Central Square of La Algaida. The event includes new features such as a round table for seniors and tributes to farmers.
The town of La Algaida is preparing to host a new edition of its most emblematic festival. The 45th Pepper Festival will be held from July 31 to August 2 in the Central Square, as announced by Mayor Carmen Álvarez at the Municipal Palace.
The event, which is celebrating its 45th year, will kick off on Friday, July 31, with the presentation of the queens, ladies, and their escorts, accompanied by musical performances. On Saturday, August 1, a new feature will be the Round Table for the Grandparents and Seniors of La Algaida and Los Llanos, after which a tribute will be paid to the oldest couple in the area. The day will be filled with various artistic activities.
Sunday, August 2, will be the grand finale, with recognition given to the “pepper growers” and the “potato grower” from the Frusana and Virgen del Rocío cooperatives, as well as to the Montilla Market. The festival will conclude with a farewell dance for the queens, ladies, and escorts. Throughout the three days, attendees will be able to enjoy a charity tombola and tastings of peppers.
The mayor highlighted that this celebration is “a well-deserved recognition of the work of the farmers who have made La Algaida one of the benchmark agricultural areas in Andalusia.”
Álvarez emphasised that the festival helps to “promote the horticultural products of the Arenas Finas brand, showcasing their excellence appreciated worldwide.” The organisation is managed by the Unión Deportiva Algaida, in collaboration with the Association of the Three Wise Men of La Algaida and Los Llanos de Bonanza and other entities.
For the residents of La Algaida, the Pepper Festival is an unmissable event that strengthens social ties and recognises the efforts of the primary sector. The mayor reminded that the Town Hall has been working hand in hand with the agricultural sector since the beginning of her term and will continue to support this tradition. “It is part of the identity of La Algaida, Los Llanos, and the whole of Sanlúcar,” she concluded.
