The Civil Guard arrested the driver on Sunday who hit and killed a tourist in Capdepera and then fled the scene. The arrest took place hours after the incident, when the suspect returned to the accident site. According to sources from the investigation, the man, a worker at a local hotel, tested positive in the breathalyser test.

Fatal hit-and-run in Cala Mesquida

The incident occurred around half past seven in the morning on the road to Cala Mesquida. The driver of a black Volkswagen Polo TDI was reportedly speeding when he hit a foreign tourist who was running in the area. After the impact, the vehicle fled the scene. The victim, a tourist who was on holiday with his wife at a hotel in Cala Mesquida, died instantly.

Officers from the Capdepera Local Police responded to the call and found the involved car with a shattered windscreen. Nearby, they located the arm and right leg of the victim. The officers, along with Civil Guard personnel, conducted searches to find the body, which was eventually discovered hidden in the underbrush.
