The National Police have dismantled a criminal group that distributed cocaine and marijuana in Manacor. Six searches were carried out, resulting in the seizure of 550 marijuana plants, over €27,500 in cash, and jewellery.

Operation Brooks, conducted by the National Police, has resulted in the arrest of ten individuals in Manacor accused of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal group. Officers simultaneously raided three homes in the early hours, although the total number of searches amounted to six. During these operations, 550 marijuana plants, over €27,500 in cash, jewellery, and tools for drug sales were seized.

A network distributing 50 grams of cocaine daily

Investigators had been tracking a group that, according to their findings, sourced 50 grams of cocaine daily for sale in the municipality. During the searches, over 40 grams of this substance were seized, along with a kilo of marijuana buds. Precision scales and larger scales used for retail were also found.

One of the homes had a reinforced door, which required the intervention of the Technical Intervention Operational Group, dispatched from the mainland to force entry. In that same property, an indoor marijuana plantation was located, and nearby, two others were found, bringing the total to 550 plants.

Six searches and an operation with aerial resources

The operation, which began at 5:30 AM on Thursday, mobilised agents from the Local Judicial Police Brigade, Citizen Security and Immigration, as well as the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR), Canine Guides, and Aerial Resources, the latter dispatched from Palma. The coordination allowed for simultaneous access to the properties and prevented the suspects from fleeing.

In addition to the drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal group charges, those arrested linked to the plantations are also charged with electricity theft, as the indoor setups required high and fraudulent energy consumption.

A blow to retail drug trafficking in the centre of Manacor

The operation represents a significant setback for drug trafficking in the capital of the Llevant region. Local residents had reported the presence of active sales points in recent months, particularly during the night. With these arrests, the National Police hope to reduce the supply of cocaine and marijuana in the municipality, although they warn that the investigation remains open to locate possible collaborators.

“A group that operated in an organised manner, with several storage and sales points, has been dismantled,” said sources from the investigation.

The detainees will be brought before a judge in the coming hours. Meanwhile, agents continue to analyse the documentation and seized items to determine if there are more individuals involved or bank accounts linked to the network.
