The court has ordered provisional imprisonment for five of the ten detainees in the drug operation carried out in Manacor, where 550 marijuana plants, over €27,500, and 40 grams of cocaine were seized.

The First Instance and Instruction Court number 2 of Manacor has decreed the provisional imprisonment of five of the ten detainees in the large-scale drug operation conducted this week in the municipality. According to the National Police, the arrested individuals were part of a criminal group dedicated to the trafficking of cocaine and marijuana.

The operation, dubbed Operation Brooks, resulted in the arrest of ten people, all of whom were brought before the court last Saturday. Of these, five have been released with charges, while the other five will remain in prison while the case is being instructed.

Simultaneous searches at three homes

Agents from the Local Judicial Police Brigade of Manacor began the investigation several months ago, focusing on a group that allegedly distributed cocaine and marijuana in the municipality. On Thursday, at 5:30 AM, simultaneous searches were executed at three homes, which served as sales points, storage, or residences for the suspects. In total, six searches were carried out.

During the searches, agents seized one kilogram of marijuana buds, over €27,500 in cash, jewelry, and tools for drug sales, such as a large scale and five precision scales. More than 40 grams of cocaine were also confiscated. According to investigators, the group was supplied with 50 grams of cocaine per day, which was the estimated daily sales.

Indoor plantations and reinforced door

In one of the homes, an indoor marijuana plantation was located, and near the residences, two other plantations were found. Among the three, 550 plants were discovered. The door of one of the homes was reinforced, so support from the National Police's Technical Intervention Operational Group was necessary, dispatched from the Peninsula to force entry.

The operation has dealt a severe blow to street dealing in Manacor, where residents had been alerting authorities about suspicious activity in several homes for months. Police sources have indicated that the investigation remains open and further arrests are not ruled out. The five detainees who have been imprisoned will await trial, while the five released are subject to precautionary measures.
