The Town Hall of Ses Salines has announced one of the most significant actions of the year regarding municipal services: the construction of 60 new niches in the local cemetery. The project, which has a budget of €131,903.11, will expand the capacity of the site and address the current and future needs of the municipality.
The project includes the construction of niches distributed in four rows of fifteen units each. Additionally, 42 ossuary deposits (DRO) will be built, and new stamped concrete pavements will connect the new area with existing access points, improving the functionality and accessibility of the cemetery.
The mayor of Ses Salines, Guillem Mas, has emphasised the importance of a project that, although not always visible, is essential: "Local councils also have the responsibility to ensure basic services during very delicate times for families, and this expansion allows us to respond with foresight, responsibility, and respect."
For his part, the councillor responsible for the area, Miquel Rigo, explained that the project has been planned with both the present and the future in mind: "We are not only expanding the cemetery's capacity, but we are also improving access and the surroundings of this new area to make it more functional and integrated with the existing facilities." Rigo added that the cemetery is a very sensitive space for any town and that it is the council's responsibility to maintain it in the best conditions.
This investment addresses a need that the municipality has been facing for years and that no local government had tackled until now. With this action, the Town Hall of Ses Salines continues its plan for modernisation and strengthening of municipal facilities.
The works will begin shortly and will represent a substantial improvement in the cemetery's capacity, an essential service for the municipality's residents.
