EU citizens residing in Calvià have until December 30, 2026, to register on the electoral roll and be able to vote in the municipal and European elections of 2027.

The Calvià Town Hall reminded this Monday that citizens of the European Union (not Spanish) registered in the municipality have a deadline to express their intention to vote in the upcoming municipal and European elections of 2027. The key date is December 30, 2026, according to a statement from the council.

To exercise the right to vote, interested parties must meet two essential requirements: be registered in Calvià and have formally expressed their intention to vote in Spain. This procedure, which is carried out only once, is permanent unless the applicant requests to be removed or moves out of the country.

Two ways to complete the procedure

The expression of vote can be done online, through the Electronic Headquarters of the National Institute of Statistics (INE), by identifying oneself with the Cl@ve system. It is also possible to do it in person at the Calvià Town Hall offices or at the Municipal Service Centre in Palmanova, where the passport or identity document from the country of origin must be presented along with the NIE.

According to municipal sources, the process is simple and requires nothing more than filling out a form. Once registered, European citizens will be included in the electoral roll indefinitely, without the need to repeat the procedure for each electoral call.

Who can vote?

All citizens of the European Union over the age of 18 residing in Calvià can vote. The right extends to both municipal elections and those for the European Parliament, two key events for local and European representation.

The Town Hall has emphasized the importance of not leaving the procedure until the last minute. “We recommend doing it as soon as possible to avoid crowds or technical problems,” said sources from the council. The deadline ends on December 30, 2026, so interested parties have just over a month to complete their registration.

A gesture that counts

For European residents in Calvià, this step represents the opportunity to influence decisions that directly affect their daily lives, from waste collection to housing policies or European subsidies. “Voting is a way to participate in the community where you live”, they added from the Town Hall.

The electoral roll will automatically close after the deadline, so those who have not completed the procedure will not be able to vote in 2027. The municipal recommendation is clear: do not wait until the last day and, if in doubt, visit the citizen service offices.
