The Balearic School of Public Administration held psychometric tests on Wednesday, the final phase of the unified selection process to fill 98 Local Police positions in the Balearics.
The Balearic School of Public Administration (EBAP) completed the opposition phase of the unified selection process on Wednesday to fill 98 Local Police positions in the Balearics. The psychometric tests, held simultaneously in Mallorca, Menorca, and Ibiza, marked the final examination of a process that began on May 24.
A total of 228 candidates were summoned for this third test, of which 190 were from Mallorca, 26 from Menorca, and 12 from Ibiza. In Mallorca, the exam took place at the Mateu Orfila i Rotger building of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB); in Menorca, at the IES Joan Ramis i Ramis in Maó; and in Ibiza, at the EBAP headquarters in the Cetis building.
The test consisted of a psychometric exercise divided into two parts. On one hand, an intellectual aptitude test that evaluates verbal, abstract, spatial, and numerical reasoning, attention, visual memory, and resistance to fatigue. On the other, a personality and competencies questionnaire to assess self-control, decision-making, teamwork, communication, stress tolerance, and availability for service.
This test concludes the opposition phase, which began on May 24 with the theoretical knowledge exercise and continued on June 28 and 29 with the physical tests. This unified model allows candidates to apply for positions announced by different municipalities in the Balearics through a single procedure.
This call includes the Mallorcan municipalities of Alaró, Búger, Calvià, Felanitx, Manacor, Palma, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Santanyí, Sineu, and Son Servera; the Menorcan municipalities of Ciutadella and Maó; and the Pitiusas of Formentera and Sant Antoni de Portmany. Together, they offer a total of 98 positions.
Once the results are evaluated, candidates who meet the criteria may be invited, if applicable, to a personal interview as part of the psychometric evaluation. The Ministry of the Presidency, Coordination of Government Action, and Local Cooperation has informed that the process is proceeding as planned and that the next steps will be communicated to the participants.
This unified process aims to streamline the selection of local police in the Balearics, preventing municipalities from having to conduct independent calls. For residents of the participating municipalities, filling these positions will mean a reinforcement of local security staff, which may translate into a greater police presence on the streets and improved response times.
In Mallorca, the involved municipalities have a significant population, so the addition of new agents will help alleviate the workload of current staff. In Palma, where there is the highest demand for positions, the reinforcement is particularly relevant to meet the needs of a city with over 400,000 inhabitants.
The Balearic Government has opted for this centralized selection model to ensure equal opportunities and efficiency in the processes. The EBAP, as the responsible body, has coordinated all phases, from the publication of the bases to the conduct of the exams.
Candidates who pass the opposition phase and, if applicable, the personal interview, will enter the EBAP job pool, from where municipalities can hire according to their needs. The first appointments are expected to occur in the coming months, once all administrative procedures are completed.
