The Mallorcan chain Hiper Centro inaugurated a new supermarket in Sóller this Friday, featuring 900 square metres and a café-restaurant. The opening has created around thirty jobs, mostly filled by residents of the valley.

The new Hiper Centro in Sóller, located on Manuel de Carrascosa street (Son Angelats), opens its doors with a surface area of 900 square metres and a café-restaurant where customers can enjoy house-made dishes. The chain, founded in Manacor over forty years ago, thus strengthens its presence in the Ponent region.

Local products as a hallmark

The shelves of the new establishment prominently feature food products made in Mallorca. The prepared dishes section offers traditional recipes such as snails, Mallorcan frito, freixura, frit de matanzas, or stewed tongue. "We are clearly committed to Mallorcan cuisine," the chain representatives stated.

The Councillor for Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, Joan Simonet, presided over the inaugural event alongside the mayor of Sóller, Miquel Nadal, and company executives. The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, also attended.

Thirty jobs for the valley

The opening has generated around thirty jobs, mostly filled by residents of the Sóller valley. Executive Josep Lluís Aguiló expressed the company's satisfaction: "We are very happy to land in Sóller, as it was a place we were eager to be present in."

Customers will be able to taste a selection of prepared dishes for free from this Friday until Sunday. The supermarket will serve the residents of Sóller, Fornalutx, and Deià, enhancing the commercial offering of the region.

Forty years of history

Hiper Centro is a family-owned Mallorcan company founded in Manacor. It has stores in various municipalities of Mallorca and is distinguished by its commitment to local products, fresh foods, and the in-house preparation of dishes inspired by the traditional cuisine of the Balearic Islands.

The new store opens Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 21:00, and Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00. The café-restaurant offers breakfasts and meals for takeaway or on-site consumption.
