Alcúdia dedicated last Friday a day of the Festes de Sant Jaume to the Roman city of Pollentia, with activities for all ages and the traditional Festa Romana.
Last Friday, Alcúdia celebrated one of the most emblematic days of the Festes de Sant Jaume with a tribute to the legacy of the Roman city of Pollentia. The programme combined history, tradition, and leisure for all audiences, successfully bringing together hundreds of locals and visitors in the historic centre.
The day began with the Invocation of the girl Pol·lèntia, a symbolic figure that recalls the municipality's Roman past. Following this, a lively parade wound through the streets of the old town, marking the start of a day where history came to life. The youngest were the stars of the morning, with a children's party that included the traditional 'tombada d’olles' and Roman games, a playful proposal to bring the heritage of Pollentia closer to new generations.
In the afternoon, the Sopar i Ball de la Gent Gran de Alcúdia gathered numerous locals in a festive and communal atmosphere. As night fell, the historic centre transformed with the celebration of the now-established Festa Romana. Hundreds of people, dressed in Roman-inspired attire, recreated the atmosphere of an ancient celebration, filling the streets with colour and music.
One of the main novelties of this edition was the incorporation of three distinct musical stages, which expanded the cultural offering of the day. The Juventa space hosted performances by Cirko, DJ Biel Martorell, and DJ Quebradu. Adultis featured Tarraco Surfers, Mercurio Retrógrado, and DJ Rocamir, while Machina Musica included artists such as Miama, Belucha, Chitowsky, Los Pucheros Atómicos, Raisol, Willie Graff, and Nico & Vale.
With this day, Alcúdia once again demonstrated that its historical heritage is not only preserved but also lived and shared. The legacy of Pollentia has become a key piece of a festival that attracts locals and visitors every year, reinforcing the cultural identity of the municipality.
