The Alcúdia Town Council has organised a recycling awareness activity with the children of Viu l'Estiu, as part of the Ecovidrio Green Flags Movement.
The Alcúdia Town Council held an environmental awareness day on Tuesday with the children from the Viu l'Estiu programme, within the seventh edition of the Ecovidrio Green Flags Movement. The initiative aims to bring recycling closer to the youngest in a fun and participatory way.
The children had prepared drawings about recycling to take part in the raffle for two Ecovidrio mini igloos. Two innocent hands were responsible for randomly selecting the two winning drawings in a festive and educational atmosphere.
The councillor for General Services and Environment, Francisco Rodríguez, took the opportunity to talk with the children about the importance of properly separating waste, the different types of containers, and glass recycling. The children actively participated, demonstrating their knowledge on the subject.
The mayor of Alcúdia, Fina Linares, and the president of EMSA, Laura Serra, were also present at the activity, supporting the municipal initiative.
Alcúdia is participating this summer in the Green Flags Movement, which has been joined by 103 restaurants, bars, and kiosks in the municipality. The aim is to help renew the Green Flag of Sustainability, a distinction that recognises the commitment to glass recycling in the hospitality sector.
The activity is part of a broader campaign that seeks to involve the entire community in waste management, with special attention to environmental education from an early age.
