The La Alcudia Classical Theatre Festival, in its fourteenth edition, has sold out tickets for three of the four performances in the professional block. Only tickets remain for 'L'increïble assassinat d'Ausiàs March', which will be performed on Wednesday, July 8.
The La Alcudia Classical Theatre Festival, held at the archaeological site in Elche, has once again demonstrated its popular appeal. Just days before the start of the professional companies block, three of the four scheduled performances have posted a 'sold out' sign. The only play that still has tickets available is 'L'increïble assassinat d'Ausiàs March' by CRIT Companyia de Teatre, which can be seen on Wednesday, July 8 at 10:00 PM.
Tickets for this performance can be purchased through the festival's official website, at ua.janto.es. The price, according to the organizers, is 12 euros, and it is recommended to buy in advance due to high demand.
A Success That Repeats Edition After Edition
This is not the first time that the festival in Elche has achieved a full house for its performances. In the previous edition, several shows sold out days before their premiere. The combination of a unique setting — the La Alcudia site — and a quality programme seems to be the key to success.
For the local audience, this event has become one of the most anticipated of the summer. Residents of Elche and nearby towns come every year to enjoy classical theatre in an incomparable setting. “It’s a perfect plan for a summer night,” commented a regular spectator.
The Plays That Are No Longer Available
The three performances that have sold out are 'La Reina Brava' by the company Las Niñas de Cádiz; 'Hamlet' by Guayominí Producciones; and 'En mitad de tanto fuego' by Miramedia Universe. The first will be performed on Tuesday, July 7, and the other two on later dates.
'La Reina Brava' is a satirical drama with Shakespearean echoes that tells the story of the murder of a queen hated by all. The company Las Niñas de Cádiz already achieved great success in the previous edition of the festival. Meanwhile, 'Hamlet' promises a fresh and contemporary version of Shakespeare's classic, while 'En mitad de tanto fuego' addresses the Spanish Civil War from a poetic perspective.
For those who have missed out on tickets, there is still the option of 'L'increïble assassinat d'Ausiàs March', a musical thriller with a comedic tone that investigates the death of the Valencian poet. The play, aimed at an adult audience, is performed in Valencian and includes live music.
The festival, organised by the University of Alicante, thus continues its journey with a proposal that combines tradition and modernity. Those who do not want to miss this opportunity, know this: hurry to get the last tickets.
