Agents of the Local Police of Palma have filed 30 complaints against illegal Chinese masseuses on the beaches of Can Pere Antoni and Cala Major between June 29 and July 5. Authorities warn of health risks due to lack of training and low-quality products.

The Local Police of Palma has focused on illegal masseuses operating on the city's beaches. In a special operation conducted between June 29 and last Sunday, July 5, agents have filed 30 complaints against women of Chinese origin who offered their services without any authorization on the beaches of Can Pere Antoni and Cala Major.

According to police sources, the action is part of the Setur campaign, which aims to ensure the safety of bathers and the civic use of the beaches during the summer season. The agents detected a large number of masseuses with no training and without health controls on the products they use, which poses a risk to public health.

Health risks for bathers

The Local Police warns that these practices can cause injuries and dermatological problems to users. The products used, such as oils and creams, are of low quality and lack health guarantees. Furthermore, the lack of training of the masseuses increases the risk of physical harm during massages.

For residents and tourists frequenting these beaches, the recommendation is clear: avoid massage services offered on the sand and go to authorized establishments. The municipal ordinance expressly prohibits the provision of unauthorized services in public spaces, and agents remind that their goal is to protect health and the right of citizens not to be disturbed.

Fines of up to 1,500 euros and seized materials

The current regulations classify the performance of unauthorized massages as a serious infraction, with fines ranging from 750 to 1,500 euros. During the six days of the operation, agents have precautionarily seized the materials used by these masseuses, including oils, creams, and towels.

The Local Police of Palma insists that these operations will continue regularly throughout the summer season. The Setur campaign, which coordinates police presence on the beaches, aims to ensure the safety of bathers and compliance with the Civic Ordinance of the Palma City Council for coexistence.

For Palma residents and visitors, this news serves as a warning about the risks of hiring unregulated services on the beach. The next time someone approaches to offer a massage on the towel, it’s best to remember that, besides being illegal, it can be costly for both health and wallet.
