Local Police in Palma has seized 474 counterfeit shirts and sports kits in a commercial establishment in Platja de Palma, as part of ongoing surveillance and control operations in the coastal area. The operation, carried out this past Monday, was conducted by members of the Tourist Security Unit (SETUR), with the support of trainee officers.
The operation involved two plainclothes officers and four uniformed officers. As a result of the intervention, the police located and seized a total of 474 shirts and sports kits that were allegedly being sold illegally, and the shop owner was investigated for a crime against industrial property.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Local Police in Palma to combat illegal trade, protect industrial property rights, and ensure fair commercial competition. The intervention falls within the ongoing coastal surveillance operations, which are intensified during the tourist season.
The investigation remains open, and the shop owner could face prison sentences ranging from six months to two years, according to the Penal Code. The seized items have been placed at the disposal of the judiciary.
This action represents a new blow to illegal trade in one of the island's most tourist-heavy areas and reinforces the Local Police's efforts to protect industrial property rights.
