The Mallorca Hotel Business Federation has placed a 39x15 meter banner at Palma Airport with a message in English appealing for coexistence and respect for the island.

The Mallorca Hotel Business Federation (FEHM) installed a 585 square meter banner at Palma Airport on Monday. The message, in English, reads: 'This is your holiday. This is our home. Let's all care.' The banner aims to raise awareness among tourists arriving on the island about the importance of responsible behaviour.

A Campaign That Started in June

The initiative 'Thanks for visiting Mallorca' began on June 10 with a dozen advertising supports in strategic locations on the island, such as mobility corridors and tourist spots. Now, FEHM is expanding the action with this banner at the main air access to Mallorca, which millions of travellers pass through each year. The president of FEHM, Javier Vich, explained that "we insist that tourism and citizenship are part of the same reality and that both aspects are not incompatible, but complementary."

"Mallorca can continue to be an internationally renowned destination precisely because it is, above all, the home of thousands of people whose well-being and quality of life are part of the destination experience itself."

Vich added that the campaign aims to remind people that Mallorca is not only a holiday destination but also the home of those who reside there. The banner, visible from the arrivals area, is intended to be a friendly reminder for tourists starting their holidays.

A Message for Coexistence

FEHM detailed that the banner measures 39 meters wide by 15 meters high, making it a highly impactful visual element. The business organization emphasizes that tourism and citizenship are part of the same reality and that both aspects are complementary. With this action, the federation seeks to increase the visibility of the campaign at the main access to the island and complement the network of already installed supports.

For the traveller landing in Palma, the banner is the first thing they see upon exiting the terminal. A gesture that, according to FEHM, invites reflection without being imposing. The campaign is set against a backdrop of social debate about tourist overcrowding in the Balearics, although the federation insists that the goal is to promote shared responsibility.

What Changes for Residents?

For the residents of Mallorca, this banner represents a symbolic gesture that reinforces the idea that the hotel sector wants respectful tourism. Although it does not imply concrete measures, the campaign aims to raise awareness among visitors. FEHM hopes that the message resonates with tourists and contributes to improving coexistence during the peak season.

The banner will remain installed for the coming weeks, coinciding with the peak arrival period in August. Those passing through Palma Airport will be able to see it just before exiting to the baggage claim area. A visual reminder that, as the slogan says, one person's holiday is another's home.
