A man in his 40s was arrested by the National Police after supplying ecstasy to a 17-year-old and groping him. Additionally, he was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs on the Palma motorway.
The National Police arrested an individual in the early hours of Thursday, accused of supplying ecstasy to a 17-year-old in a bar on Playa de Palma and subsequently groping him. The arrest occurred after a chase on the motorway, where the suspect was driving recklessly under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
A chase that uncovered the facts
The officers were patrolling from s'Arenal towards Palma when, around 00:30 hours, they detected a van that was driving erratically near the airport. When they signalled for it to stop, the driver attempted to flee but was quickly intercepted.
Upon approaching, the police observed obvious signs of intoxication in the driver. After being subjected to detection tests, he tested positive for alcohol, cocaine, and ecstasy. Additionally, the vehicle lacked insurance, so he was reported for driving without it.
The party night that ended in a report
In the van was a 17-year-old boy, who explained to the officers that they were friends. That night, the adult suggested going to a bar on Playa de Palma to watch a World Cup football match. Once there, he offered him alcoholic drinks and encouraged him to take ecstasy, assuring him it would have no negative effects. The minor accepted.
Subsequently, according to the boy's account, the man groped him, but the victim pushed his hand away and reminded him that they were just friends. They then decided to return home, at which point they were intercepted by the police.
Serious crimes and vehicle impoundment
The man was arrested for a crime against public health for providing drugs to a minor, and for an alleged sexual assault. The van was taken to the municipal impound. The arrested individual was brought before the judicial authority in the following hours.
The National Police reminds the importance of reporting any risky situation affecting minors, especially in contexts of alcohol and drug consumption. Authorities urge parents to talk to their children about the dangers of accepting substances from strangers.
