The Deputy Mayor for Mobility, Toni Deudero, detailed on Tuesday the necessary documentation to apply for the resident badge for the expansion of the ORA, which will come into effect on January 1, 2027. The application period opens on September 16.
The Town Hall of Palma will open the application period for the resident badge corresponding to the expansion of the ORA zone on September 16, with the new regulations set to take effect on January 1, 2027. This was announced on Tuesday by the Deputy Mayor for Mobility, Toni Deudero, who outlined the requirements and necessary documentation to expedite the process.
Deudero explained that the aim is for citizens to prepare all the documentation in advance to avoid delays when the application period opens. To facilitate this, the Town Hall has set up an informative website where residents can check if their street is included in the regulated area and learn about the corresponding ORA sector.
The expansion will affect the neighbourhoods of Foners, Pere Garau East, Son Fortesa South, Els Hostalets, Son Oliva, Plaza de Toros, Camp Redó, and certain streets in Bons Aires. However, not all streets in these neighbourhoods will be included, so Deudero recommended checking the address in the designated search tool beforehand.
To apply for the badge, it will be necessary to have a valid ID card, residence permit, or passport, the vehicle registration document, a driving licence, be registered in the corresponding area, and have no debts with the Town Hall. The annual fee remains at 24 euros, and payment can be made by bank card or payment letter, but not in cash.
Applications can be submitted both online and in person at the SMAP offices, with an appointment required. Once the process is completed and payment is made, the badge will be valid after 72 hours.
Residents who already have an ORA badge in current sectors will not need to undertake any additional procedures, as their renewal will occur through the ordinary process in November. However, Deudero warned that the expansion will involve a reorganisation of some sectors, meaning the number assigned to certain residents may change.
Preparatory work has already begun: new vending machines have been installed, and in the coming months, vertical and horizontal signage tasks will be carried out, as well as the painting of regulated parking spaces.
Drivers who do not reside on these streets and park in the new ORA zones will need to use the usual system via the mobiAPParc app or the vending machines. Deudero emphasised that the regulation aims to promote vehicle turnover and facilitate the availability of spaces for shopping, errands, and visits.
