32-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured After Being Stabbed in the Neck in Capdepera

A 32-year-old Sahrawi man was stabbed in the neck while sleeping by his flatmate, aged 35. The victim was airlifted to Son Espases.

A 32-year-old man is currently hospitalized at Son Espases in Palma after suffering a stab wound to the neck while sleeping in his home in Capdepera. The alleged assailant, his flatmate, fled the scene and is being sought by the Civil Guard.

The incident occurred around 12:20 PM this Sunday, according to the Servei d’Atenció Mèdica Urgent (Samu-061). The victim, of Sahrawi origin, had a wound approximately four centimetres deep in the neck, inflicted with a kitchen knife.

Residents in the Cala Gat area, where the couple lives, alerted the Local Police after seeing the suspect, aged 35 and also Sahrawi, wandering without a shirt and holding a knife. Minutes later, the man entered the home and stabbed his flatmate while he was sleeping, before fleeing.

Emergency Helicopter Evacuation

A friend of the victim accompanied him to the Punto de Atención Continuada (PAC) de Capdepera, from where the medical team activated the severe polytrauma code. An Advanced Life Support ambulance arrived at the health centre and stabilized the injured man, who was airlifted by the 061 helicopter to Son Espases.

According to hospital sources, the patient remains in the Intensive Care Unit, although his condition is stable despite being serious. The rapid intervention of emergency services was crucial in preventing more severe consequences.

Investigation Underway to Locate the Assailant

The Local Police of Capdepera and the Civil Guard have launched an investigation to find the whereabouts of the alleged assailant. Witnesses claim that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Authorities are seeking public assistance to locate him.

The incident has shocked residents of the Cala Gat urbanization, a quiet residential area. No prior incidents had been reported between the two men, according to sources close to the case. The Civil Guard does not rule out that the motive for the attack may be related to a previous argument.

Meanwhile, the victim remains hospitalized, and doctors are expected to assess the evolution of his injuries in the coming hours. Residents of Capdepera are closely following the development of an investigation that has left the town on edge.
