The club Fitz Mallorca opens its doors on July 16 at the former Tito's on the Paseo Marítimo. The inaugural party will feature British DJ Pawsa, a star of festivals like Tomorrowland.
On July 16, the iconic building on Palma's Paseo Marítimo, which housed the nightclub Tito's for decades, will once again be filled with music. Fitz Mallorca, the new nightlife venue, will open its doors with a party starting at 18:30, headlined by British DJ Pawsa, one of the most sought-after names in the international electronic music circuit.
The venue, located at 30 Paseo Marítimo, was home to Tito's for many years and more recently to Lío Mallorca, which occupied the space for about three years until it presented a redundancy plan last January. Now, the Sounds group, which already manages similar venues in Madrid and Marbella, takes over with a proposal that promises to revitalise Palma's nightlife.
A World-Class DJ for the Opening
Pawsa, whose real name is Pawel Surma, is a regular at the world's biggest festivals: Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Ultra Music Festival, and also during the Ibiza season. His presence at the opening of Fitz Mallorca is a strategic move to attract a young, electronic music-loving audience. The performance will start at sunset, coinciding with the expected opening time.
The organising group assures that the opening party will only be the beginning of a programme that will include weekly sessions with national and international artists. The Fitz Mallorca website already has the calendar for the first days and ticket information available.
The Legacy of Tito's and the Transition from Lío
The building on the Paseo Marítimo has witnessed the evolution of nightlife in Palma. Tito's, which opened in 1935, was a reference point for decades until its closure. Then came Lío Mallorca, a cabaret-restaurant that combined dinners by chef Andreu Genestra (Michelin star) with shows directed by Joan Gràcia, a former member of Tricicle. However, the project did not take off: in January of this year, the company presented a redundancy plan and left the venue empty.
Now, Fitz arrives with a concept that is more purely a nightclub, without the gastronomic aspect, and focuses on music as the central element. Local residents, who have seen the Paseo Marítimo transform with the recent opening of Mar Salada Club at the Club de Mar, watch this new movement with curiosity.
What to Expect from Fitz Mallorca?
The club boasts three floors and a capacity for around 1,500 people, according to sources from the Sounds group. The decor, featuring an industrial style with Mediterranean touches, has been designed by the Lázaro Rosa-Violán studio, known for its work in hotels and restaurants across Spain. The main dance floor will have a Funktion-One sound system, highly appreciated by electronic music lovers.
For residents of Palma, the opening of Fitz represents a new nightlife option in an area that has seen several venues close in recent years. The Palma City Council has confirmed that the venue complies with all licenses and soundproofing measures to minimise disturbances to neighbours. In fact, the building features enhanced acoustic insulation following renovation works.
Entry for the inauguration will cost 25 euros in advance, and tickets are expected to sell out. Those who cannot attend on the first day will have the opportunity to visit the club starting from July 17, operating from Thursday to Sunday from 23:00 to 6:00.
In short, Fitz Mallorca arrives to fill a gap that seemed orphaned in Palma's nightlife. With a top-level DJ and the experience of the Sounds group, the aim is clear: to restore the shine to a historic building in the city. However, it remains to be seen if the public responds as expected. For now, on July 16, the Paseo Marítimo promises to be the epicentre of electronic music in Mallorca.
