The Santanyí Town Council has presented the programme for the patron saint festivities of Sant Roc in S'Alqueria Blanca, which will take place from August 2 to 22. The programme includes traditional, cultural, and charitable events.
The municipality of Santanyí is all set for the patron saint festivities of Sant Roc in S'Alqueria Blanca, which will be held from August 2 to 22. The Town Council has presented a programme with over twenty days of events that combine tradition, culture, sport, and leisure for residents and visitors.
Among the most notable events is the Solemn Mass of Sant Roc on Sunday, August 16, which will be accompanied by the traditional dance of the caparrots, the joyas runs, and the foam party with inflatable water castles in Sa Teulera. The central day will gather hundreds of people around the religious and recreational celebrations.
The programme also allocates a significant space to history and collective memory. The 50th anniversary exhibition of CE Alqueria will be inaugurated, as well as the exhibition “Els Caparrots de s'Alqueria: El batec d'un poble,” which reviews the festive identity of the locality. The Sant Roc Pregó will be delivered by Antoni Vallbona Garcia.
The musical and social offerings complete the lineup. The Sa Cúria Fest (Volume VI) musical gathering, the Tribute to the Elderly, the Pamboliada Solidaria benefiting ELA Balears, and the traditional concert by the Adagio Music Band from Cala d'Or are all planned. A programme designed for all ages.
“Once again, the Sant Roc festivities arrive, festivities that identify us, root us, and remind us of the strength of a people that knows how to celebrate, share, and keep its tradition alive,” highlighted the mayor of Santanyí, Maria Pons.
Pons thanked the work of the entities and volunteers that make the programme possible and invited everyone to enjoy each event. For her part, the representative of the mayor's office in S'Alqueria Blanca, Alícia Adrover, emphasised the excitement with which each event is prepared: “We see smiles from people reuniting, families around a table, children in the squares, traditions that are not lost... the essence of the patron saint festivities remains innate in the whole town,” she wished everyone a very happy festival.
