The passenger, who had witnessed France's defeat in the World Cup, arrived late for her flight and shouted at the pilot to wait for her. The Civil Guard had to intervene to calm the situation.

A French citizen was at the centre of an embarrassing episode at Son Sant Joan airport in Palma after missing her flight back home. The woman, who had attended the World Cup semi-final where France was eliminated, arrived late at the boarding gate and, upon seeing that the plane was about to take off without her, became furious.

According to eyewitnesses, the passenger began to bang on the terminal glass while shouting “S’il vous plaît!” at the pilot, security guards, and ground staff, demanding that they stop the aircraft. The scene, which took place early on Wednesday, lasted several minutes and drew significant attention from other travellers present.

France's defeat, the trigger for the anger

The woman, accompanied by her partner, had arrived at the airport in a rush, knowing that time was against her. However, the boarding gates had been closed for several minutes. Rather than resigning herself to the situation, the French woman opted for direct confrontation, pleading repeatedly to be allowed in.

Some passengers, far from disapproving of her behaviour, encouraged her to confront the ground staff. According to a witness, a man and a woman of Spanish origin urged her to attack the staff member when she was denied boarding. The tension escalated until several Civil Guard officers arrived to calm the situation and prevent the altercation from escalating further.

For the French fan, the double defeat — first on the football field and then at the airport — was too much. The image of the desperate woman, gesticulating and shouting in front of the departing plane, has become the talk of the morning on social media in Mallorca.

Police intervention and the end of the incident

The Civil Guard officers eventually managed to persuade the passenger to cease her behaviour and leave the boarding area. No arrests or material damage were reported, although the incident forced a brief delay in operations at the affected gate.

Aena has reminded that boarding rules are clear: once the door is closed, access to the plane is not permitted for security reasons. Travellers must pay attention to schedules and arrive with sufficient time, especially on busy days following major sporting events.

The French couple, who had enjoyed a few days in Mallorca, had to seek a new alternative to return home. Meanwhile, normalcy returned to Son Sant Joan airport, although the echo of the French fan's shouts still resonated among the passengers.
