Brazilian international Diego Nunes signs again with Illes Balears Palma Futsal after four seasons at Benfica. The player states that his family's desire and the demands of the Spanish league influenced his decision.

Illes Balears Palma Futsal announced this Thursday the return of Diego Nunes, the Brazilian international who played for the club between 2020 and 2022. The winger thus closes a four-year chapter at Benfica and returns to Son Moix with the intention of contributing his experience to a squad that aspires to everything.

"I am very happy to be back home," Nunes declared at his official presentation. The player explained that his family was happy during his first stint in Mallorca and that the affection received has never faded. "Since I left, I always had the itch to return," he confessed.

A return with sporting ambition

Nunes does not hide that one of the driving forces behind his return has been the opportunity to compete again in the Spanish league, which he describes as "the best in the world." The Brazilian asserts that he has matured as a player in Portugal and that he now returns with more responsibility and understanding of the game.

"I have gained experience in high-pressure matches and I want to put it at the service of the team," he stated. The player highlighted that Palma Futsal has grown enormously since his departure and that he wants to be part of the decisive matches awaiting the Mallorca team.

For the fans at Son Moix, Nunes' return means regaining a player who has already demonstrated his quality on the court. The club, which has renewed a good part of its squad, thus adds a top-level reinforcement to face the upcoming season.

Time at Benfica: maturity and prominence

During his time in Lisbon, Nunes played over 100 matches and became a key piece of the team. The Brazilian claims that this experience has helped him grow both on and off the court. "I have taken on a leading role and that has given me a lot of confidence," he explained.

The player noted that he returns with the intention of bringing that maturity to the locker room and helping the younger players. "The team already has players with a lot of experience, but I want to contribute and be available for whatever they need," he added.

The Palma Futsal management, led by Miquel Jaume, has positively assessed the operation. Club sources have highlighted that Nunes was always a priority and that his return strengthens the sporting project of the entity.

A family environment that weighs in the decision

Beyond the sporting aspect, Nunes has emphasised the personal component of his return. "Mallorca is a very special place for me and my family. We have lived unforgettable moments here," he recalled. The player thanked the support of the fans and promised total commitment on the court.

The Brazilian expressed his excitement about reuniting with former teammates and the coaching staff. "I know many of them and I know the group is fantastic. That also helped me make the decision," he confessed.

For Palma Futsal supporters, Nunes' return is exciting news. The player will be under the orders of Antonio Vadillo in the coming weeks and is expected to debut in the first friendlies of the pre-season.
