A group of hooded armed men burst into a flat on General Riera street in Palma and assaulted one of the occupants to seize a stash of drugs. The National Police seized almost 6.5 kilos of narcotics and arrested the two occupants.
In the early hours of Saturday, a group of hooded and armed men raided a drug den on General Riera street in Palma, in an attempt to carry out a drug 'vuelco', a robbery among traffickers. The assailants waited for one of the occupants in the building's lift, subdued him with blows from the gun butts, and snatched the keys to access the flat.
Once inside, they searched the flat for the shipment, but the screams alerted the neighbours, who called emergency services. A patrol from the Palma Local Police arrived at the property and found bloodstains, drugs scattered throughout the flat, and the two occupants, one of whom was injured in the head and had to be taken to a hospital.
During the intervention, one of the occupants handed the officers a suitcase containing narcotics, which led the National Police to take over the case. The Drug Group II searched the premises and located more hidden drugs in a bedroom.
In total, 6,460 grams of narcotic substances were seized, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, MDMA, and tussi, as well as cash, four mobile phones, and an air-powered assault rifle.
The two occupants of the flat, a man and a woman, were arrested as suspected perpetrators of a drug trafficking offence. The National Police is continuing the investigation to identify the assailants, who fled before completing the robbery, and to clarify the extent of the criminal activity taking place in the property.
This type of 'vuelco' is a common method in drug trafficking, characterised by extreme violence and the use of weapons to seize shipments from other traffickers. Investigators believe the assailants were well aware of the target and the amount of drugs stored.
