The Balearic public television launches 'Operation Eclipse', an unprecedented device with nearly twenty teams, drones, and satellites to cover the phenomenon across all the islands. More than 10,000 approved glasses will be available to citizens.
The Balearic public television has announced the largest deployment in its history to cover the total solar eclipse next Wednesday, August 12. Under the name 'Operation Eclipse', IB3 will mobilise nearly twenty teams, satellite transmission units, DSNG vehicles, and drones to provide comprehensive coverage on television, radio, web, and social media.
The special will kick off early in the morning with service information, live connections, and safety recommendations for observing the phenomenon from the main observation points in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera.
At 17:00, the news services and the team from 'Cinc Dies' will broadcast a major special programme presented by Toni Rigo, Sílvia Pol, and meteorologist Dani Capó. The programme will run until 21:10 with simultaneous connections from the four islands and the Balearic Sea.
The channel has coordinated the operation with the DGT, Emergencies, public administrations, municipalities, and security forces. The aim is to provide useful information, avoid unnecessary travel, and ensure public safety during an event that will not occur under similar conditions for decades.
In its public service aspect, IB3 has launched a awareness campaign and has made available to citizens more than 10,000 approved glasses for safe observation. The follow-up will also be available through social media, with live streams from the four islands.
The total solar eclipse on August 12 will be visible throughout the archipelago, and the Balearic public television has become the main voice to ensure no one misses it. Interested parties will be able to follow the entire day through IB3, both on its television channel and on its website and digital platforms.
