Zito Luvumbo and Aboubaka Soumahoro are already in Palma awaiting Mallorca to finalise the last details with Cagliari and Hamburg to make their signings official.

Mallorca has secured two new reinforcements for the season in the Segunda División. Forward Zito Luvumbo and defender Aboubaka Soumahoro are already on the island, pending the final documents to be signed by their parent clubs and the Bermellona entity. Luvumbo arrives on loan from Hamburg, while Soumahoro is looking to return after a loan spell where he couldn't shine at Cagliari.

Soumahoro passes medical examination

The 23-year-old French defender passed his medical tests without issues on Wednesday, and only the official announcement is pending. He arrives on loan from Hamburg and, despite his youth and a history of injuries, is set to be the fourth central defender after Antonio Raíllo, Martin Valjent, and David López. His versatility, as he can also play as a left-back or pivot, gives him options for playing time.

In the same position, Javier Olaizola is also waiting for his opportunity, but Soumahoro's arrival adds competition. The club is confident that the Frenchman can contribute in various positions, something that Luis García values in his tactical scheme.

Luvumbo, the fans' desire

The Angolan attacker made it clear since the end of last season that his priority was to return to Mallorca. Despite modest numbers —zero goals and two assists—, his charisma and commitment have earned him the affection of the fans. On social media, he has posted images wearing the club's shirt and in various locations around Palma, showing his attachment.

Cagliari has not put up obstacles but is asking for between four and five million euros in case of promotion, a figure that Mallorca considers excessive. The Bermellona offer is around three million, and the player's willingness has been key in tipping the balance, despite strong interest from Palermo.

Both players, along with their families, are waiting on the island for the outcome. It is expected that in the coming hours they will be announced as the third and fourth signings of the summer, after Adrián Fuentes and Arnau Puigmal.

Meanwhile, Luis García continues pre-season training at Son Bibiloni with several youth players to cover the absences of up to ten players who have left this summer. The impatient fans are hoping that the new signings will soon be available to the coach.

For the local fans, the arrival of these players represents a reinforcement in key positions: the attack, where goals were needed, and the defence, with a versatile profile. Mallorca is thus looking to consolidate a competitive team for promotion.

Regarding the schedule, the club expects both to be available for the upcoming friendlies, although everything will depend on the speed of the paperwork. What is clear is that excitement for the new season is growing with these names.
