Residents of Lluís Martí street report that a group of ex-Algerian minors has turned an abandoned premises into their base for distributing stolen goods, with total impunity.
Indignation has erupted among the residents of Lluís Martí street in Palma due to the activities of a group of young Algerian immigrants, many of whom are ex-minors, who have occupied an old premises in the area. The building, with its main entrance blocked by wooden planks, has become the meeting point where they distribute the spoils of their thefts.
Residents explain that the young people access the interior through a hole in the structure, a maneuver they perform in plain sight of passers-by and drivers, as seen in a video obtained by the editorial team. This situation repeats itself daily and has instilled fear in the neighbourhood, which now knows the place as the “den of the Algerians”.
The criminal activity of this group mainly focuses on smashing the windows of parked vehicles in the vicinity to steal items from inside. Among the stolen items are V16 beacons, which they later sell on the black market. They are also attributed with violent robberies in the Parque de las Estaciones and on Manacor street.
The desperation of the residents is palpable, as they claim that the squatters act with total impunity. The constant presence of these young people, who enter and exit the premises at all hours, has created an atmosphere of insecurity that has become the main reason for residents' complaints.
So far, there has been no report of any specific police intervention at the premises, although community pressure is growing. Those affected are calling for an urgent solution to restore peace on Lluís Martí street and to halt the criminal activity that has taken root in the neighbourhood.
