Loterías y Apuestas del Estado has launched the two advertisements for the Extraordinary Christmas Draw of 2026, both filmed in Mallorca. The Mercat de Santa Catalina, in Palma, and the coast of Santanyí are the settings for the stories.
The two advertisements for the 2026 Christmas Lottery have already premiered and, for the first time, both have been filmed entirely in Mallorca. The Mercat de Santa Catalina, in the heart of Palma, and a coastal area of Santanyí are the chosen locations to convey the campaign's message: 'The best dreams are those that are shared.'
The advertisement featuring the Mercat de Santa Catalina tells the story of a mother and daughter who reminisce about an old bar in the neighbourhood, now gone. The desire to reclaim that space for the family that ran it for decades is the central thread. The film, which airs on television, digital platforms, radio, and print, moves away from the traditional focus on monetary prizes to centre on shared wishes.
A campaign with a Mallorcan stamp
The second advertisement takes place on the coast of Santanyí. A man dreams of acquiring a plot of land by the sea to keep it intact and prevent it from being transformed. Both stories focus on the desire to preserve places that hold special value for those who experience them.
The campaign has been developed for the third consecutive year by the agency Proximity. At the presentation, the president of Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, Jesús Huerta, argued that the advertisements reflect "a supportive society" where sharing goes far beyond the prize.
For the residents of Palma, seeing the Mercat de Santa Catalina in such an iconic campaign is a source of pride. The market, a meeting place and a tradition, becomes the symbol of a story that appeals to nostalgia and rootedness.
Sale of tickets and draw figures
Coinciding with the launch of the campaign, Loterías has begun selling tickets for the draw on December 22. This year, 205 million tickets have been issued and the Extraordinary Draw will distribute 2.87 billion euros in prizes.
Those interested can already purchase their tickets at outlets across Spain, including those in Mallorca. The price of the ticket remains at 20 euros, as in previous years.
The choice of Mallorca as a filming location is not coincidental: the island offers varied landscapes and a light that the filmmakers have skillfully utilised. For local viewers, the advertisement has an added closeness by recognising everyday corners.
The campaign is also being spread on social media, where users are already sharing their impressions. Some joke that this year's ticket must be bought at the Mercat de Santa Catalina for the wish to come true.
The Extraordinary Christmas Draw will take place on December 22 and, as always, the excitement will be spread throughout the country. In Mallorca, the hope that the Gordo will fall on the island is more alive than ever.
