The National Police have arrested the alleged perpetrator of the assault, which occurred in May on Manacor street. The victim suffered a traumatic brain injury and a wound that required stitches.
The National Police have detained a young man in Palma accused of hitting another driver on the head with a wrench following a traffic incident. The assault took place in mid-May on Manacor street, around 9:00 PM, and the arrested individual now faces an alleged charge of bodily harm.
According to the Balearic Superior Police Headquarters, it all began when the now detained individual, who was travelling in a vehicle, threw an object at the car in front, hitting it. The affected driver pulled over to the side of the road to check for damages.
At that moment, two young men got out of the vehicle ahead of him. One of them wielded a wrench and allegedly lunged at the victim, hitting him on the head. The other young man joined in the assault and punched him several times.
The victim tried to hold the assailants until the police arrived, but both managed to flee the scene. Before escaping, the alleged perpetrator also broke the victim's car window with the wrench.
The assaulted driver had to be taken to a hospital due to a traumatic brain injury and an open wound that required stitches.
Investigators carried out multiple efforts to identify the young man wielding the wrench. After he could not be located initially, a police requisition was established for his search and arrest.
Finally, last Friday he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a bodily harm offence. The case is now in the hands of the judicial authority, which will determine the legal consequences of this assault.
