The Algaida Town Council has approved the Equality Plan 2026-2030, a document that updates the one from 2018 and is structured around seven strategic axes to advance towards real equality in all areas of the municipality.

The Algaida Town Council has given the green light to the Equality Plan 2026-2030, a roadmap aimed at making equality a cross-cutting issue that affects both local administration and the entire citizenry. The document, which updates the previous plan from 2018, has been developed following an internal diagnosis and an analysis by the equality commission of the areas of Algaida, Pina, and Randa.

Seven axes to transform the municipality

The Equality Councillor, Jerònia Miralles Xamena, has detailed that the plan is structured around seven strategic axes, each with measurable objectives and indicators. The first aims to incorporate a gender perspective into the internal functioning of the Town Council, reviewing selection processes, promoting training, and establishing protocols against sexual harassment.

In the educational field, the second axis aims to strengthen co-education. “Many initiatives are already underway, but when we organise activities for 8th March or 25th November, we try to involve schools,” Miralles pointed out. Preventing gender violence is another pillar: the Town Council will continue campaigns like “No i Punt!” and will train bar managers during festivities, the Quintos, and Civil Protection.

Female participation and inclusive language

The plan also promotes the active participation of women in associative and festive life, encouraging their presence in festival committees and highlighting their role in local history. Municipal communication will adopt inclusive language in all documents and channels.

In the economic sphere, female entrepreneurship will be favoured, the campaign “There is no space for machismo” will be promoted, and collaboration with SOIB will take place in training programmes with a gender perspective. Measures for reconciliation and shared responsibility will also be encouraged.

A plan with citizen monitoring

For the residents of Algaida, Pina, and Randa, the plan represents a concrete commitment: each axis includes indicators that will allow for the evaluation of its compliance. The councillor has emphasised that the goal is for equality to stop being an isolated issue and become a daily practice. The next step will be to disseminate the plan among citizens and to implement the first actions before the end of 2026.
