One motorcyclist was seriously injured and another sustained minor injuries after colliding head-on with a car on the Ma-3100 in Algaida. The accident occurred around 18:30 on Saturday on the Camí Vell de Pina.

Two motorcyclists riding high-capacity motorcycles were involved in an accident on Saturday afternoon on the road connecting Algaida and Santa Eugènia. The head-on collision with an Opel Astra Caravan left one of them in a serious condition, while the other was lightly injured. The driver of the car emerged unscathed.

The incident took place at around 18:30 on the Ma-3100, near the Camí Vell de Pina, according to sources from Algaida Civil Protection. The motorcyclists, who were part of a group of about ten riders, collided head-on with the car that was heading towards Algaida on a curve.

Emergency response on the Ma-3100

Following the alert, emergency teams quickly arrived at the scene. Patrols from the Algaida Local Police, five ambulances from the Servei d’Atenció Mèdica Urgent (Samu-061), and agents from the Traffic Civil Guard were dispatched. Volunteers from Civil Protection assisted with the rescue efforts and traffic management.

The road was completely blocked in both directions while medical personnel attended to the injured. The two motorcyclists were transferred to Son Espases hospital in Palma, where they were admitted. The driver of the car, who was unharmed, cooperated with the authorities in the investigation.

Investigation opened and debris removal

A road maintenance brigade from the Mallorca Council was responsible for removing the debris from the motorcycles and the car, which were scattered across the roadway. A tow truck removed the involved vehicles, while the Traffic Civil Guard has opened an investigation to determine the causes of the accident.

For the residents of Algaida and Santa Eugènia, this accident serves as another warning about the dangers of the Ma-3100, a winding road with mixed traffic where it is not uncommon to see groups of motorcyclists on weekends. Although the road has reopened to traffic, caution is advised until the facts are clarified.
