The Can Majoral winery in Algaida celebrated its traditional Festa del Vi a la Fresca on Friday, July 3rd, marking three decades of the event. Around 500 people enjoyed wine, theatre, and a talk on cinema.

The Can Majoral winery, in Algaida, opened its doors last Friday, July 3rd, to celebrate the thirtieth edition of its Festa del Vi a la Fresca. Approximately 500 attendees gathered at the cellar to share an evening that combined wine, humour, and cinema, in an atmosphere of gratitude towards collaborators and friends.

A tribute to wine and friendship

The winemaker Andreu Oliver explained that the event began in 1996 and, except for the pause due to the pandemic, has been held continuously. "With this party, we kick off the summer. The aim is to thank the people who have helped us over the years: with the harvest, buying the wine... We want people to have a good time, enjoy the wine, the dinner, and interact," he stated.

The evening featured a special guest: journalist and writer Joan Carles Palos, who gave a talk about his passion for cinema, linking it to three films: Sideways, Night of Red Wine, and The Decree of Santa Victòria. The talk was one of the highlights of the night.

Theatre and tasting for attendees

The event was hosted by actors Sergi Gil and Montse Mozo, with stage direction by Carme González. They performed a dramatization where two flight attendants and the audience pretended to be on a plane, creating amusing moments. Additionally, a tasting of the wine Capgiró Blanc was held, described by Oliver as "the most fun we have made."

After the symbolic landing of the plane, the chairs were removed, and the space was set up for a cold buffet dinner, where attendees could taste the winery's wines while chatting. "It has been a great evening shared among friends, our goal," concluded Oliver.

The event had a strong political representation: the Minister of Agriculture, Joan Simonet; the Director General of Agro-Food Quality, Joan Llabrés; and the Mayor of Algaida, Margalida Fullana, among other local authorities, attended.

For the residents of Algaida and wine lovers, this festival has become a summer staple in the region. The next edition, if tradition continues, will reopen the doors of Can Majoral in July 2027, always with the same spirit of gratitude and celebration.
