UD Algaida is organising the traditional Pepper Festival on July 31, August 1 and 2 in the Central Square. There will be tastings of fried peppers, presentations of queens and musical performances.
The countdown to the Pepper Festival in La Algaida has already begun. With less than a month to go, the Sanluqueño neighbourhood is preparing for one of its most anticipated events of the summer. The tradition, which for years was held in the courtyard of CEIP Maestra Caridad Ruiz, will this year move to the Central Square, a larger space with easy parking.
The event, organised by UD Algaida, has the collaboration of the Association of the Three Wise Men of La Algaida and Los Llanos, as well as businesses and individuals. The Sanlúcar de Barrameda City Council also supports this festival that combines gastronomy, socialising and family fun.
Programme and activities of the Pepper Festival
The dates marked in red are July 31, August 1 and 2. During these three days, the Central Square will host the traditional presentations of the queens, ladies and companions, a tombola, a large tasting of fried peppers, a bar and musical performances. The smell of fried peppers will fill the air, as tradition dictates.
UD Algaida, known as the red-and-white club, aims to raise funds through this festival to face the football season. The expenses of the first team and youth teams are high, and this event has become a key source of income. Meanwhile, the Association of the Three Wise Men of La Algaida and Los Llanos also raises resources for the Three Kings Parade and other Christmas events.
An established event on the summer calendar
The Pepper Festival has established itself year after year as an event that generates great interest in La Algaida, Los Llanos and the rest of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The change of location from the educational centre to the Central Square has been well received by attendees, who appreciate the spaciousness of the new venue and the ease of parking.
For the residents of La Algaida, this festival represents a meeting point that strengthens the social fabric of the neighbourhood. Additionally, the tasting of fried peppers, the star product of the local garden, is a gastronomic incentive that attracts visitors from other areas of Sanlúcar. The combination of tradition, solidarity and leisure makes this event one of the most anticipated of the summer.
The Pepper Festival will kick off on July 31 at 8:00 PM in the Central Square. Entry is free and it is recommended to arrive early to enjoy all the activities.
