The measure, announced this Tuesday, aims to respond to the expected increase in travel during the months of July and August, both for residents and visitors.
According to the public entity, the reinforcement involves an increase in frequencies during peak demand hours, especially during the early morning and at noon. This way, users will have more buses available for journeys between Capdepera, Cala Rajada, Artà, and the Balearic capital.
Line 423 is one of the most used by residents of the municipality of Capdepera to access healthcare, administrative, and educational services in Palma, as well as to connect with other public transport. During the summer, the influx of tourists staying on the Llevant coast significantly increases demand.
TIB has detailed that the new schedules will be in effect from August 1 to September 30. Users can check the updated schedules through the TIB website or its mobile app, where real-time information on possible incidents will also be provided.
The Capdepera Town Council has positively assessed the measure, as they believe it improves the municipality's connectivity with the rest of the island. “It is good news for our residents and for the tourists visiting us, as it facilitates mobility without the need to use a private car,” municipal sources have stated.
The reinforcement of line 423 adds to other improvements promoted by TIB in the intercity bus network of Mallorca during the summer, with the aim of reducing waiting times and encouraging the use of public transport as a sustainable alternative to private vehicles.
For residents of Capdepera, this extension of hours provides relief for daily commutes, especially for those who work or study in Palma and depend on the bus. It also benefits elderly people who attend medical appointments in the capital.
TIB recommends users to plan their trips in advance and purchase tickets through digital channels to avoid crowds at stops. Additionally, it reminds that the citizen card allows access to discounts on journeys.
With this initiative, the Balearic government aims to advance in the decarbonisation of transport and reduce congestion on the roads leading to Palma, one of the main concerns during the high tourist season.
